Obituary for Ann D. Payan (Davidson)

Ann Margaret (Davidson) Payan, 89, formally of Palos Heights, died on January 31, 2022, in Tinley Park, Illinois. Ann was born on July 13, 1932, in Tuscola, Illinois, the only child of James and Ruby (Gunn) Davidson. She married her college sweetheart, Jack Payan, on June 14, 1952, at the First Christian Church in her hometown of Arcola, Illinois. Together they raised four children. Ann was loved and adored by her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived life by her mantra, “Be kind to one another,” and liked to share her sage advice for a successful marriage, “Take good care of each other.” Ann was a “trouper” that never complained about what life threw at her. She was a homemaker at heart and welcomed everything that came with raising a family, especially with four boys. While she enjoyed travel, golf, church, and a good book, she loved nothing better than a house full of family and friends for any occasion. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband Jack, of 61 years. She is survived by her four sons, Clark (Terry) of Pleasanton, California; Craig (Mary Jo) of Palos Heights, Illinois; Jay (Karen) of Sterling, Illinois; and Lance of Oak Forest, Illinois. Ann also leaves ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Philip; Taygeta; Cole (Ali); Jack; John; Cate; Josh; Sarah (Jeff) Egan and children Grace, Colton, and Sophia; Carly (James) Wike and children Eleanor, James, Charlotte, and Lillian; Jake (Shelby) Payan and daughter Isla. Services will be held private. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lawn Funeral Home (708) 429-3200. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to the Eastern Illinois University Foundation at 860 West Lincoln Avenue, Charleston, IL 61920 and note on the check that the donation is for the benefit of the Jack L. Payan Scholarship.
