George J. Brixie, beloved husband to Patricia (nee Berry), married for almost 69 years, died Dec. 23, 2022 at home in La Grange Park, IL. Born in 1932 to George and Josephine (nee Pitlik) Brixie, eldest of five, preceded in death by brothers Richard and Russell Brixie. Survived by siblings Robert Brixie, Janice Hadwiger and sister-in-law Sue Brixie. With Patricia, raised six children, Mare (Wayne Chubin), Joseph (Silvia Brixie Schram), Peter (Ruth Ellison), Anne (Jim Kokoris), John (Rosemary) and Julie (Randy Schaetzl). Longtime parishioner of St. Catherine of Alexandria, teacher at Brother Rice H.S. and Richard J. Daley College. The joy of his life was his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass Thursday Dec. 29 at 10:30 am at St. Catherine of Alexandria 10621 S. Kedvale, Oak Lawn, visitation an hour before. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Misericordia Home, Chicago, IL. Memorial planned for summer 2023, followed by picnic. Remember him when you go for a bike ride, play a round of golf, enjoy a meal at an ethnic restaurant or plant flowers in your garden.
