John J. Dobosz, age 81, of Tinley Park, IL was called home to Heaven on Saturday, January 28, 2023. John has joined his beloved wife of 35 years, Joyce A. Dobosz, who preceded him only six months before. John was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Korea during the early 1960’s. On John’s return stateside, John earned a degree in accounting from Bogan Jr. College. John and his brother Ray Dobosz opened Scottsdale Hobbies. John was known by countless southside hobbyists as the “tall skinny guy” who ran the store for over 40 years. The stores closing is still a subject of regret, to this day on neighborhood blogs! John was a talented carpenter who made ornate crosses for the graves of departed family. He finished them this year between his medical treatments and made sure they were placed this Christmas. On his table at home he was working on a broken balsa wood biplane that he hoped would fly again……
John was the loving stepfather of Jeffrey (the late Dawn) VanBuskirk, Lisa VanBuskirk, Connie Lynn (Dave) Wingo and John (Carri) VanBuskirk; devoted grandpa of Abby, Cassidy, Sara Anne, John Kyle, David, Michael, Nicholas and Dylan; dearest great-grandpa of Noah, Amelia, Kaylee, Chloe and Elianah; cherished uncle of Michael (Kathy) Anderson, Victoria (William) Lytton, Phillip (Billye Sue) Dobosz, Mary Bruhn, Joe Dobosz, and Laura Dobosz; great-uncle to Matthew (Kelly) Anderson, Christopher (Jessica) Anderson, Jeffrey (Kat) Anderson, Katie (Dave) Ryan, William (Beth) Dobosz, Emily Dobosz, Jamison (Christine) Dobosz, Eric Bruhn, Jennifer (Ashley) Laud, and Janice (Christopher) Abadilla; great-great uncle to Sam, Amelia, Penelope, Evelyn, Clara, Michael, Charlie, Luke, Thomas, Paige, Natalie and Gianna; and loving sister-in-law Lorraine (his late brother Phil) Dobosz; preceded in death by his parents Felix and Mary (nee Krystyniak) Dobosz, his cherished sister Irene (John) Anderson and dear brother Raymond Dobosz.
