Matthew Manthey Crawley was born on March 25, 1981, to William and Donna (Ferraro) Crawley in Palos Heights, IL. He grew up in the close-knit community of Crestwood, IL where he attended the local grammar school and graduated High School at Alan B. Shepard where he built lifelong friendships. Matt attended the University of Illinois earning a degree in History. He then pursued a career in law enforcement and graduated from the Cook County Sheriff’s Academy in 2006. During this time, he met the love of his life, Jamie Torpy. They got married on September 25, 2009 (the happiest day of Matt’s life) and built a life together in Frankfort, IL. Matt made a career working as a Cook County Sheriff Deputy. With their mutual love for animals, he and his wife donated their extra time volunteering at animal shelters. Matt will be remembered for his wit, generosity, selflessness, and being the ultimate protector of the people in his life. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him and the many lives he touched. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife; Jamie; parents William and Donna Crawley; brothers Bill and Sean (Krischel) Crawley; nephew and niece, Brooks and Autumn Crawley; father in-law Richard (Cindy) Torpy; mother in-law, Debbie Torpy; brother in-law, Brian Torpy.
