To the family and friends of Ed Jr. ...Please accept my heartfelt condolences on passing of your beloved husband, brother and father. It's always so sad when someone from those wonderful days growing up in Blue Island is now gone. Both time and life move too fast.
Ed Jr. and I were both connected by our love of bowling and being born and raised Blue Island. Both our fathers being in the business -- his the bowling alley and my father who owned the bowling store ABCETS at 127th & Western Ave.
I was fortunate to get to know Ed on a personal basis, having had many conversation with him over the years. It was always so much fun to spend time at Burr Oak Bowl, whether it be league play or casual bowling. Too many times my friends and I, when we were ages 16-18, would end up bowling from 1 a.m. until 4 or 5 a.m. in the morning after working at the various pizza places in town.
Always the gracious host, Ed and Daryl, would just sit and talk with us as we bowled away into the early morning. Ed, in particular, was such a nice guy, a low-key guy, who always had time, especially for young people and those just starting out learning to bowl.
One always wonders how much time we have on this earth and what's God's plan for us. All I can say is to cherish the memories and take solace in knowing that he will always be with each and every one us. Just smile and think of the great times had with a wonderful person. Simply, Ed Jr. was the best!
